  1. How much do murals cost?

    Murals are priced per square metre, typically ranging from $160–$240, depending on design complexity and surface type.

    • Simple designs on smooth walls cost less.

    • Detailed artwork or rough surfaces (like brick or corrugated iron) take more time and paint, increasing the price.

    Additional Costs:

    • Design Fee: $250 for two different designs (includes 2 rounds of edits). Extra designs are $100 each.

    • Prep & Prime: $10–$30/m² depending on wall condition.

    • Anti-Graffiti Coating: $20–$30/m² (optional but recommended for extra protection).

    • Travel: 88c/km, capped at two round trips per 10m².

    I provide fixed quotes to account for variables like weather, dry time, and surface condition. A rough timeline is given for each project.

The minimum mural fee is for 10square metres, starting at $1950 with the price depending on design complexity, wall type, location and whether anti graffit coats are required.

Minimalist Design- $160 per square metre

Think larger elements, beautiful bold lines, strong shapes, larger fonts, art the pops. The importance is on colour varieties and shapes in minimalist form.

Starting from $160 per square metre, up to $190 for Galvanised iron, brick etc.

Realism Design- $190 per square metre

Think a more realistic artistic style, drawing the viewer in to the artwork, medium to larger elements, telling a story, changing the landscapes.

Starting from $190 per square metre, this style is only available for walls that are flat i.e. not galvanised iron, or bricks with deep grout.

Detailed Designs- $210 per square metre

These designs are more detailed with a variety of larger, medium and smaller elements therefore taking more labour time. The scene involves more detail and more elements.

Starting from $210 per square metre, up to $240 per square metre for Galvanised iron, brick etc.

Steps to Have a Mural Installed

  1. Initial Chat – We discuss your ideas, design themes, and whether you’d like a painted mural or a workshop involving students or the community.

  2. Site Review – A site visit is booked (or clear wall photos and accurate measurements are sent if the location is too far).

  3. Mood Board & Quote – I create a free mood board and quote to confirm your vision. If you’d like to proceed, a design invoice is issued.

  4. Design Phase – Two rounds of feedback are included before finalising the design.

  5. Mural Booking – Once approved, we schedule the mural. For outdoor murals, weather may affect the exact timing.

How long do murals last?

Murals last at least 5 years, and up to 20 years with quality materials and care. Dulux Weathershield paint offers long-term durability, but lifespan depends on:

  1. Wall Condition: Damp, rusty, or damaged walls can cause bubbling or flaking over time. A sound surface ensures better longevity.

  2. Sun Exposure: North- and west-facing walls fade faster due to stronger sun.

  3. Protection & Maintenance: An anti-graffiti coating adds UV protection. Annual gentle cleaning helps your mural reach the 20-year mark.
